Originally a theatre major, Xander also shot photography on the side as a hobby. But thanks to his friend and mentor Island Jenn, he decided to venture in the world of concert photography at her urging by shooting Social Distortion at Showbox Sodo. The rest they say is “history.” His work has been featured in publications such as Alternative Press, Australian Hysteria, Hails and Horns and AMP Magazine. He has also been published by Fender Guitars and hometown publication Yakima Magazine. On top of that Xander has won numerous awards for his photography. He also ran the publication Jet City Sound before merging with Seattle Music Insider in 2013 to become the awesomeness that is SMI.
He also works as the house photographer for The Seasons Performance Hall in Yakima, Washington. Xander also contributes to Spin Media and Townsquare Media websites as well DALLE Photo Agency out of France. Some of his favorite bands that he has shot have included: Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, Daryl Hall and John Oates, and Rancid just to name a few. He is still trying to complete his bucket list as we speak.
Currently he is pursuing his BA in English/Creative writing at Central Washington University.
When he’s not working, he’s spending time with his wife Janice and their three “furry kids.” (2 Cats, 1 Dog) As for his love for theatre, maybe one day he will pursue it when he’s not busy… Maybe.
